Pelé's influence on the sport of soccer cannot be overstated. As one of the sport’s most recognizable stars, Pelé has been an ambassador of the game for more than five decades.


Pelé made his professional debut at the age of 15 and quickly rose to international fame becoming one of the most prolific goal scorers in history. Not only did he help win three World Cup titles for Brazil, but he also helped Santos FC, his Brazilian club team, to six Brazilian league titles and two Copa Libertadores, the South American club championship.


Throughout his career Pelé broke numerous records, including goals scored and appearances. To this day, he has scored 77 goals in 92 international appearances.

Pelé is also credited with popularizing the sport of soccer in Brazil and around the world. His infectious love for the game, coupled with his superstar persona, helped fuel interest in soccer and to spread its reach across the globe. Pelé has also been a strong advocate of peace, using his platform to promote understanding between his home country of Brazil and other soccer playing nations.


Pelé’s influence extends beyond the soccer pitch. He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, working to promote the rights of children across the world. He serves as a mentor to young players, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
