Jessica Simpson is one of the most well-known figures in the public eye, so when she recently revealed a secret affair with a mysterious A-List actor, the news spread like wildfire. The actor allegedly caught Jessica's eye while they were both attending the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards; Simpson was on a break from her then-husband Nick Lachey.
The identity of Jessica's mystery man has been up in the air since then, but Page Six reported that the top choice seems to be none other than Mark Wahlberg. This speculation is based on Simpson's detailed description of the actor wearing jeans and a t-shirt, as well as the fact that Wahlberg was already a star by 2001. He had also worked out with the same trainer as Simpson. There's also the fact that Wahlberg attended the 2006 Golden Globes with his now-wife, Rhea Durham, who was pregnant at the time.
It turns out that Simpson met up with the actor again in 2006 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. There, the duo shared a bottle of wine and some “intimate moments”, Simpson revealed.
What makes this story even more intriguing is that Mark Wahlberg has been married to Rhea Durham since 2009 – and the two share four children together. It's unclear whether the married couple were already together long before Jessica encountered her mystery actor, or if something happened in the intervening years. Either way, the drama and speculation surrounding their story is sure to keep people guessing for years to come.
